About this Qualification
The PRIT Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness is designed to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of mental health including common mental health conditions, the effects of these conditions upon the individual, how theactions of others can affect those with a mental health condition, how best to support individuals exhibiting symptoms of amental health condition and strategies to reduce the likelihood of mental health issues occurring.
Due to the nature of this qualification, alongside the growing need for mental health provision, this qualification is aimed at individuals working within/ across all sectors.

Delivery
The course may be delivered using a variety of methods such as classroom sessions, distance learning or a blended
method. The course will require self-directed study alongside tutor support.

Assessment
Assessment for this knowledge only qualification is via an externally set, internally marked and verified and quality assured by PRIT workbook. Workbook answers must be written by the learner and this unit must be met to achieve the qualification.Assessment may take place at any time during the delivery of the qualification and does not need to be done as a final assessment. It is however a requirement for the candidate to be aware that assessment is taking place.All questions must be met in order to achieve the qualification and this qualification is not graded, successful learners achieve a pass. There are three forms of assessment :
• Identification based answers in which learners must circle the correct answer(s) from a predefined selection.
• Short answer questions in which learners must answer the question in full sentences (approximately 25-100 words per question).
• Multiple choice questions (MCQs) in which learners must circle the most appropriate answer (A-D).

Tutor Requirements
There are two unique tutor roles within this qualification,Trainer & Internal Verifier.

Unit : Principles of Mental Health

Unit Description: Within this knowledge only unit, learners will develop an understanding of mental health including common mental health conditions, the effects of these conditions upon the individual, how the actions of others can affect those with a mental health condition, how best to support individuals exhibiting symptoms of a mental health condition and strategies to reduce the likelihood of mental health issues occurring.
