Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification will leave candidates with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, including the duties of employers and employees under the UK health and safety regulations. It will also help employers to address their obligation to keep their people and themselves healthy and safe.This Internationally-recognised qualification will leave candidates with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, including the duties of employers and employees under the International health and safety regulations.Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification covers the key terms used in health and safety, so that the learner is familiar with everything they read or hear within their new and unfamiliar environment. It also covers the duties of employers and employees, creating awareness of the main hazards and risks in the workplace. The programme essentially focuses on good housekeeping to keep everyone safe.The learners will also be introduced to personal protective equipment and its use as well as welfare facilities that should be provided. They will also be taught the importance of personal hygiene, the purpose of first aid provision and the reporting of health and safety incidents.The qualification assumes no prior knowledge. Learners will come from diverse employment and education backgrounds, and will be of all ages.

3.4 Identify the different classes of health and safety signage.

4. Understand the requirements for workplace procedures.

4.1 Explain the need for reporting accidents, ill health, dangerous events and near misses.
4.2 Identify the purpose of first-aid provision.
4.3 Identify the types and uses of personal protective equipment.
